Winter Park Public Transit Operations Facility
Winter Park, CO
Client
Saunders Construction Inc.
ESCO was contracted by Saunders Construction to perform the earthwork, utilities, and hardscapes for the 12 Acre Public Lift Facility just outside of Winter Park. Earthwork operations included medium-heavy grubbing of the existing site, a 2’ over-ex and re-compaction of the entire site and 11,000 CY of material to an onsite stockpile. Utilities consisted of installing 265 LF of fire line and 800LF 2” copper per the specifications of Winter Park Water and Sanitation District, 3,230 LF of 6” to 24” Storm Sewer, 380 LF Sanitary Sewer with an Onsite Wastewater Treatment System (OWTS) and leach field. Hardscapes consisted of 378 CY of varying width flatwork as well as the prepping for a snowmelt system. Finish work and base placement consisted of 13,150 SY of geotextile and importing and placing 8,200 TN of Class 6 Base.
From a constructability standpoint, this project presented a unique challenge of working up in the Rocky Mountains. With a degree of removal from society, ESCO had to upkeep a tight schedule to ensure that all resource requirements were met, and milestones were achieved. Due to supplier availability and design challenges, ESCO worked hand in hand with the client to establish routes forward to adapt and overcome design conflicts and material shortages which kept the progression of the job at a steady pace.
