Squaw Pass Road Remediation

Clear Creek, CO

project description

ESCO was contracted by Clear Creek County to perform the widening of Hwy 103 for 7 miles. The highlights for this project include: felling and removing 4000+ trees, erecting approximately 45,000 SF of Redi-Rock retaining wall, installing 1,157 LF of storm drainage ranging from 15” to 60” HDPE, 11,200 CY of challenging rock excavation, and the placement of 19,000 tons of asphalt. From a constructability standpoint, this project presented multiple challenges unique to a long narrow mountain pass. ESCO utilized traffic lights to maintain one lane of traffic around the clock. This project required careful planning and excellent communication with the public to minimize the impact on the community. Despite the challenging weather conditions, ESCO was able to keep this project on schedule and complete on-time. ESCO delivered over 2,000 loads of various materials in extremely tight conditions and managed the safety and quality aspects of the project to ensure public safety was paramount.
