ESCO Construction was contracted by W.E. O’Neil of Colorado to perform the earthwork, utilities and concrete structures work for an industrial park located at County Road 4 and Huron St. in Broomfield, CO.
The project consisted of over 30,000 cubic yards of excavation and embankment, 16,000 linear feet of utilities including cast in place box culvert and three pedestrian bridges spanning the Bull Canal. One of the unique challenges faced was installing 72” RCP with cuts as deep as 20’. ESCO’s dedicated team opted to use scrapers to subcut the roadway to 10’ above pipe. Despite the upfront cost committed with additional earthwork, ESCO was able to complete all the utilities within the easement under budget and ahead of schedule. Another challenge faced was the installation of utilities below three existing gaslines. ESCO value engineered a solution by redesigning the alignment of the sanitary system, omitting two manholes and boring an 85’ long casing underneath the gaslines saving weeks on the schedule. ESCO’s ability to provide cost effective solutions to numerous issues like the above has nurtured a growing relationship with the client.
