DIA West Fork Outlet Drop Structure

Denver, CO

project description

ESCO completed this high-profile drainage project in the West Fork Creek which included extremely accurate tolerances and channel shaping achieved via the use of GPS-enabled bulldozers and excavators. Sheet pile was installed on the upstream end of the various drop structures and driven into bedrock preventing future groundwater from disturbing the subsurface of the structure. ESCO meticulously placed 4’ boulders which were set and grouted into place along with a sheet pile cap. Once complete, erosion control blankets were installed along with the prescribed seed to promote future growth and vegetation. To maintain the existing flow of the stream during construction, ESCO implemented a diversion channel to route water around the work area. Sumps and associated pumps were used to handle the nuisance groundwater in the work area. The project fulfilled its design intent by preventing future erosion and groundwater seepage within the area.
