BNSF Logistics Center

Hudson, Colorado

project description

In January 2019 the infrastructure began for the nation’s first Logistics Center for Burlington Northern and Sante Fe (BNSF) Railway located in Hudson, CO. The BNSF Logistics Center is a 430+ acre site consisting of a loop railroad track that is over one mile in length. The long-term goal of the logistics center is to service the growing Denver Metropolitan Area consisting of various railroad customers. The project had a very aggressive schedule which included excavation and embankment of over 1,200,000 CY, in excess of 44,000 LF of gravity underground utilities up to 42” diameter, and over 11,000 LF of trickle channel. ESCO was tasked with ensuring that the track grading and pipework would be completed prior to track installation. This project encountered a significant amount of groundwater which involved a careful installation of concrete paving beneath the water table. ESCO was able to dewater and successfully manage the high water table allowing for this project to meet all schedule milestones.
